Sales reservation to a WMSLocation model on AX2012

I need support to understand how reservation model works on Dynamics AX 2012.

In our implementation we have Site, Warehouse dimensions Primary and Physical. The only other dimensione actived is WMSLocation, it's Active and Physical, not Financial.

Customer needs to reserve Physical items at sales order time, the system reserve items on Warehouse on the first location has Physical Avaiable.
Note the reservation is made only at Site and Warehouse lavel, without enable the WMSLocation on resevation force flags.

Example:

Sales line order 5 items on Site 1 Warehouse X.

The Warehouse is:
Site 1 Warehouse X Location Physical: 0 Reserved 0 Ordered 5
Site 1 Warehouse X Location A Physical: 5 Reserved 0 Ordered 0
Site 1 Warehouse X Location B Physical: 0 Reserved 0 Ordered 0

After the reservation the Warehouse will be:
Site 1 Warehouse X Location Physical: 0 Reserved 0 Ordered 0
Site 1 Warehouse X Location A Physical: 5 Reserved 5 Ordered 5
Site 1 Warehouse X Location B Physical: 0 Reserved 0 Ordered 0

The system reserve on the first location, and it can be correct for, i don't understand why, but it's ok. Now my problem is the manage operations on my Warehouse.

Now, my question is, why i can't transfer, using a journal, some items from a location (A) to another location (B)?

The reservation is not forced to Location dimension, and i can't think about the system don't allow me to move my items on my Warehouse anymore. Is very strange, and i can't belive it.


Dynamics AX EP - session timeout

Hello,

I have realized that there is default timeout for AX EP (AX 2009) for 30 seconds.

How can I limit the timeout of the session (or unlimited timeout , if possible - if not what is best practice for unlimited timeout)?

HRM Self Service - Vacation Reason

Hi there.

I have set up HRM Self Service for Business Portal 6.  But when a user logins in to create a Vacation Request (Time off), they can only type the 'Reason' for the time off. I thought that the 'Reason' should be available in a drop-down list, as is set up in GP. Or how else does GP's HRM determine which of the leave days to reduce (Sick, Annual Compassionate etc).

I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

unsupported customization explanation

Hello, one challenge on a CRM project is explaining why certain changes in CRM are "unsupported." My general explanation of this concept is that unsupported changes are not guaranteed to work and may break on a future rollup. Do you have a more articulate or complete explanation of what "unsupported customization" means in CRM? Also, do you have a good url that you have found useful to forward to people who challenge the concept of an "unsupported customization"?

I remember when I first started working on CRM I hid a ribbon button using jQuery and a more experienced CRM developer told me that change was unsupported. My logic was that clearly the change worked so wtf did he mean that the implementation was "unsupported". Of course, now I understand what that means and I have to explain this concept to others.

Based on my experience learning CRM I can understand why customers with a development background may challenge the concept of an implementation being "unsupported" in CRM so I'm trying to identify the best possible explanation and url reference that I can reuse to help others understand this concept.

Microsoft Dynamics Connector ERROR : Unable to publish CRM metadata exception

Hi, When trying to integrate the first of the standard maps between NAV 2013 and CRM Online, I receive the above error. In the specific entity log it states ERROR : Unable to contact CRM metadata SOAP client. The credentials entered for the integration account are correct and the settings on the integration account also seem to be correct. Having run the map however, following the failure, if I try and log into the Microsoft portal using the integration account it shows me the following, suggesting that the connector has repeatedly failed to login and prompts for a code to be entered to confirm that I am not a robot. Entering the same credentials and the code, resets the account temporarily but as soon as the map is turned back on the same symptoms occur. The user is an Office 365 user. Thanks.

best way to implement custom web page in crm

Hello, I have a possible requirement where I'll need to give the user the ability to click on a "Maximize Notes" button in the ribbon to open the incident notes in full screen mode in a custom web page. The notes on this custom web page will display in full screen mode with an extra-large font.

I worked on a previous CRM project that used a separate .NET WebSite project as a container for all custom web pages used by the CRM installation. A more experienced CRM developer on the previous project recreated one of the custom web pages as webresources within CRM and said that this was a more proper way to implement the custom web page solution.

Is this the general approach that you would use to implement/deliver a custom web page used by CRM? If so then can you describe how you would implement the functionality described in my first paragraph using this approach?

How to recover main account form ?

I imported a solution into our production CRM to show related record information however it updated the default account form ! I did not publish the updates as it messed up the form. The active form is still fine! How can I recover the active form? Basically when I go to customize the form it shows the messed up form but outside of design the form is still fine as it is not published? The solution from Microsoft was unmanaged so there is no rollback. Any help would've appreciated. Thanks Paul

TFS integration with Dynamics AX2012 R2 CU7

hi all,

We are starting with the new project and have decided to use TFS as a source control. i have some doubts.

We have one development server which will be probably shared by about 5   developers, and shared topology has not been recommended by Microsoft as per the white paper "Change management and TFS integration for multi-developer projects".

Adding more to the situation , we work in onsite-offshore model, so some developers about 2 of them(by default windows server 2008 R2 provides two remote logins) may login to the development server using remote desktop services, others will login using the client(using*.axc file for example). We may have another development server in future, where in other developers may login, probably from offshore.

Given the above situation , what recommendations will you give, for TFS integration.

CRM 2013: Tracked Items from Outlook do not show up in CRM

Hello,

for example I receive a mail from a customer. I track it in CRM, assign it to the contact, send a reply via e-mail.

Now what I would expect is that (at least after some minutes) the incoming or at least the outgoing mail from me to the customer would show up on the acitivities screen when opening the contact in CRM.

I am using CRM 2013.

Is there some configuration maybe missing?

Choosing "Include Tax Details" causes SO Blank Invoice to revert to the unmodified invoice report

Although we have a modified Word Template in place for our invoices, choosing the option to include tax details when printing or emailing the invoice causes GP to revert to the original SO Blank Invoice Word Template instead of using our modified one.  

Does anyone know why this would be happening?  The only thing I can think of is that the tax detail fields are not available in the modified template, but they are available in the original.  I don't actually see them in either. Both field lists look identical, and I did the modifications  from the original template myself, so I don't believe any fields were removed anything like that.


Change Parent Campaign In Campaign Response

We work with CRM 2011.

Is there a way to change the parent campaign in a Campaign Response after it is saved?

Once you hit save, the campaign lookup is in grey and so it can not be changed again.

Voucher Client freezes

  Hi All,

   Our Voucher Client freezes at random.  I have to use task manager to force quit and then restart the application.  Anyone have this happen and what can I do to fix it?   Both the HQ Client and Voucher Client are on a separate Server 2008r2 virtual machine.

CRM 2011 - error when clicking on readonly text field

We are using MS CRM 2011 On Premise, RollUp 15, IE 8.

We faced a very annoying issue.

When clicking with the mouse on readonly / disabled text/date/number field (except multi text field) we get an error on page with the following error:

It doesn't happen in RU 12.

It also doesn’t happen in IE 9 / IE 10 (RU 15), but we can't upgrade now our systems to later versions of IE.

I searched in google and I found other people who faced it in previous crm rollups, but I didn’t find a solution.

 I tried to unchecked the "Load pages in the most recent version of Internet Explorer" in the system settings but it didn’t help.

 

Is it related to RU 15?

Does anyone have any solution for it?

Repair Small Business Role Center

Hi All,

I am playing around the Role Center functionality of NAV at the moment and have managed to break my Small Business Role Center landing page.

When I launch a user profile with the Small Business RTC I get a blank first page, with only the Book Keeping, Analysis, Bank & Prepayments, GST Reporting & Departments menus and a few quick links, no ribbon menu.

There is no Role Center Dashboard? I have obviously removed something I shouldnt have.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Steps to getting data from online 2011 to trial online 2013

Hi all

I am trying to test our online update to 2013 to see what works and what may not. I don't have a huge organization (less than 50 users), but have a couple of customizations -- I know to get my contacts to another instance, I'd have to do an advanced find, select all headers, and then export to a csv for importing into the new version.

However, that's basically all I know. I am not looking for someone to give me blow by blow for my own instance, but I have been searching for a while and still don't have a clear idea how to get EVERYTHING from our CRM online to another instance to make sure this works ok.

Does anyone know of reference material I can look at to figure it out, or any online info?

I need to export everything -- contacts/opportunities/leads/ plus customizations, security roles, etc. I just want it to be as close to what we have now as possible so I can test our upgrade situation.
