Showing foreign characters on Word Templates

I hope someone can help?

I have a client that is using GP with Chinese characters and we are setting them up to be able to send Word Templates for their Remittance and Purchase Orders. The issue we have is that if you print out the standard report writer layout it shows the Chinese characters in fields like the Creditor name and Check Name but when it is generated to a Word Template it loses the Chinese characters and just prints nonsense.

Has anyone else come across this and if so how did you get round it?
